High Holidays Appeal

Teshuva – forgiveness. This is between you and others, anyone you may have wronged or have bad feelings towards, take the opportunity today to ask for forgiveness and bring peace and harmony between you and our fellow human beings.

Tefillah – prayer. This is between you and G-d. Open your heart and soul, and connect, and speak to G-d. He is waiting to hear from you, and always ready to listen to your prayers!

Tzedakah – Charity. This is between you and your community. Giving to others brings blessings to you. No amount is too small, the essence is to give.  It is a special time to give charity before the High Holidays. If you have not had the opportunity to give to a charity, please consider giving to the Jewish Life Centre. You can give with the link below

Yizkor Memorial Service

By popular demand, we have set up outdoor Yizkor Memorial Services in multiple locations across Elstree & Borehamwood to give all those that are unable to attend Shul, the opportunity to say a prayer in memory of a loved one this Yom Kippur.

One of the most important traditions in which this is evident is in our recital of Yizkor, honouring the memories of our departed loved ones during the prayer services of four major festivals throughout the year.

In addition to asking the Almighty to ‘remember’ the souls of family members and friends who have passed, Yizkor provides us with a vital spiritual connection to them. It transforms their inspiring memory into an active source of light and blessing.  For this reason, part of the Yizkor service includes a pledge to tzedakah, charity – a mitzvah done on behalf their soul, thereby merging our two “worlds”.

The outdoor Yizkor Service will be approx 20-30 minutes.

Please be in touch if you have any questions or concerns.

Each location will follow all COVID guidelines, and pre-registration is necessary to attend any location.

Rosh Hashanah

Power Hour

This year Rosh Hashanah is so different, yet it can still be even sweeter! Most COVID guidelines don’t exactly match Chabad House ideology of acceptance with no prior booking, lots of food, and the incredible social interaction! We hope to make sure there is still the warmth, love and joy felt in the room, even with masks, no handshakes or hugs and a service without the singing and dancing we are used to! Please help us make sure it goes as smoothly as possible by honouring the guidelines and respecting the others around you. The Power Hour Services are a short and POWERFUL which will bring meaning and enrichment to your Rosh Hashanah. There will be some prayer, inspiration and very interactive.

The children Power Hour be more than a service! Each child will be able to experience Rosh Hashanah in a fun and interactive way, in a safe environment!

Every person entering the Jewish Life Centre at any time MUST be registered due to the COVID guidelines. Once we reach the full capacity for each service, registration will close to keep with social distancing.

Anyone above the age of 11 MUST wear a mask at all times in the Jewish Life Centre. Children can ONLY join the Kids Power Hour Service.

If you do have any symptoms or feel even slightly unwell, please avoid entering the Jewish Life Centre to keep everyone safe.

The health and safety will be the top priority at the Jewish Life Centre at all times, and we want to make sure everyone feels comfortable, safe and well.

Shofar on the Street

We want YOU to experience the Mitzvah of Rosh Hashanah and make it as accessible and easy as possible! There will be 18 outdoor locations across Elstree & Borehamwood which are being coordinated, all outdoors. If there is an area missing and you would like a Shofar blowing, please be in touch, and we can organize it for you. Exact timings of the locations will follow.

If you would like to be your street coordinator, please be in touch with Rabbi Chaim 07538799524.

Everyone will be welcomed on Sunday to hear the Shofar, but we would greatly appreciate if you can pre-register yourself and your family so we can accommodate the numbers as best as we can!

Please note there may be additional timings on one street if there are too many registered so that we can keep social distancing. If you have registered, you will get all the updated options a couple of days before Rosh Hashanah!
