Shabbat

An Experience

That will give you inspiration through the week!

What is the Minyan?

Chabad of Elstree & Borehamwood minyan led by Rabbi Chaim Hoch, is a community  that aims to be warm, open, and welcoming to everyone, irrespective of knowledge, observance, or affiliation level. We have an open door, no strings attached policy.

A warm welcome greets all who step through the doors of our Shul, no matter whether they attend as a one off or on a regular basis.

We greet all with open arms, so there is no need to worry or be uncomfortable if you or your guests feel that their Hebrew reading or Jewish knowledge is not yet at the level that you would wish it to be. We are here to help make your Shabbat prayer experience, meaningful and enjoyable.

The prayers and reading from the Torah are made easier to follow with numerous explanations shared throughout the service. We use bilingual Prayer and Torah books and page numbers are announced throughout.

Please be in touch if you have any questions or concerns regarding the minyan

We look forward to welcoming you.

Collect your CRP points by attending our Minyan with your child on Shabbat.

All United Synagogue schools and schools under the religious authority of the Office of the Chief Rabbi require the completion of a Certificate of Religious Practice (CRP) as part of a child’s application for admission to the school. Some other Jewish schools in Greater London also require a CRP or similar form.
One of the ways that parents can collect points for their CRP is through coming to the Minyan on Shabbat or the Kids Got Shabbat programme monthly.

Shabbat in the JLC

Every Shabbat is different, with so many different parts that make it special, and we would love you to be a part of the experience!

Friday Night

Friday Night starts with L’chaim as the sun sets, leading into the Friday night prayer with songs, harmony and inspiration!

The Kids Shul

The Kids Shul Experience is a revolutionary way for the younger ones to feel part of the community. The adults step aside and the kids run the show inside the shul, leading a kids service, singing and fun kids activities, followed by kids kiddush and chicken soup! This programme will be monthly, and you can collect CRP points. Registration required!

Shabbat Morning

Shabbat morning starts with Kabballah & Kaffeine, a short inspiring message from Rabbi Chaim, followed by the prayer service that everyone will always be welcomed!

The Jewish Life Centre is a family friendly Minyan, that everyone of all ages are welcome! We have a small Kids Korner set up every week with games and toys for your little ones to play. Children always participate in the service with bringing the Torah to the ark, singing and clapping along to the songs.

Kiddush Farbrengen

The Kiddush Farbrengen is such a beautiful way to celebrate Shabbat with the community. With a weekly sit down kiddush, with hot food, it is a chance to socialise, and really experience the warmth of Shabbat! Everyone is always invited to be a part of the Farbrengen experience.

You can also sponsor a Kiddush Farbrengen in honour or memory of a special occasion. Whether its a Bat or Bar Mitzvah, a Yortzeit, a birthday, anniversary or to express gratitude to the Minyan, it would be an honour to celebrate with you! See the options below of the details, and be in touch if you have any questions, we would love to accommodate you and your family!

The Minyan Club

At Chabad of Elstree and Borehamwood, we don’t require membership fees or a ticket for services. Every Jew, without exception, is welcome into our minyan.

Minyan sponsorship represents a commitment to our community. It means that you are involved in keeping our Minyan alive and seeing it continue to grow from strength to strength. It means that you are a partner in supporting the financial needs of Chabad of Elstree & Borehamwood Minyan and the Jewish Life Centre as a whole.

Below we offer suggestions of optional Minyan Sponsorship. Sponsorship can be processed annually or monthly. Whether you are looking for a full Minyan Sponsorship with a Burial Policy included, or would just like to make a monthly donation to participate in our vision, we thank you for being a true partner of the Jewish Life Centre.
